Week 10 Preview: Strictly Come Dancing

After John Sergeant’s decision to pull out of the competition this week, six couples now remain in contention for the Strictly title. Despite John’s exit, another celebrity will be leaving the show this weekend. Here are the dances our remaining duos will be performing:

Tom & Camilla – Tango
Christine & Matthew – Cha Cha
Lisa & Brendan – Quickstep
Austin & Erin – Cha Cha
Rachel & Vincent – Foxtrot
Jodie & Ian – Jive

But you’ve not quite seen the last of the former political reporter and his dance partner on Strictly. At the end of Saturday’s show, John & Kristina will perform a special Waltz routine to the track ‘Come Away With Me’ by Norah Jones.

On Sunday’s results show, actor and West End star John Barrowman will perform ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ from his new album, accompanied by a routine from our pro dancers. Our remaining couples take to the stage for a Saturday Night Fever group dance, and Vincent & Flavia perform a special dance to ‘Milonga De Mis Amores’.

I am disgusted with the removal of John Sargeant from Strictly. This is an early evening entertainment show, not the Olympics. The programme is made by the viewers’ votes, the judges know this as do the celebrities, keen to take part. Let’s face it. If it wasn’t why have we been hanging around? It is clear that Tom and Austin are in a different class. Heather was a great singer but was never very good as a dancer, Cherie, lovely poise, amazing for her age, how she must hate that remark, great at ballroom but was never going to loosen up for latin. Rachel, great last week but the previous weeks a pretty little fairy off the Christmas tree, neat footwork, no spark of life, it shouldn’t take 9 weeks to wake up! Past celebrities who were kept in by the public were hopeless, no timing, worse each week. Not so John and Christine. Len admitted John’s timing was good, they were always entertaining, did justice to Christine’s clever dances and looked as if they were enjoying themselves. They encouraged children to watch ‘stuffy’ dancing. He read the Guardian. So what? It is his job. Did they ask Tom to give up Holby City? No, it would have sorted itself out by the last three. It was fueled by the judges who mostly seem to consider themselves self-important and its catching . Lighten up, its ENTERTAINMENT.

    Week 10 Result

Jodie and Lisa in bottom 2.

    Jodie is out :(

There is a stich up this week (week 10) Bruno and Len collaborated to give Austin and Erin the same score as Lisa and Brendon so as to create two third places, ie scoring 4 points. Thus making it more difficult for the public to vote Christine and Jodie out of the two dance off positions. The judges have already decided who will win this competition hence ther clumsey removal of John Serjeant ealier this week. The programme is now all about Goodman and Co’s ego..nothing more and nothing less.

Furthermore, what is the justification of having a contestant celibrity dancer performing the same dance as a professional dancer. For example tonight Christine against Erin..of course Austin and Erin would get a better points score that Matthew and Christine. There is now way these egotistic judges took this matter into considerations especially as they made Christine go first.

The whole rules governing this “entertainment” competition stink. Goodman and Co are stupid. Primary school kids could have come up with a more sensible set of rules.
