As the Alesha Debate rages on, is it just a “storm in a teacup”?

As I was going about my business this week, getting fully involved and a little enraged about the Alesha Debate surrounding Strictly, I got a text from my Mum which gave me a little perspective….

“What a storm in a teacup!” she wrote.

And having thought about it I have to agree with her. She’s clever my Mum and has worked in PR in the television industry for 20 years so she’s got the goods to back it up.

It IS a storm in a teacup if you sit down and chill and have a little think. Ok the BBC were in fact wrong to fire Arlene Phillips for no good reason – that was bad.

However, it is an entertainment show at the end of the day. Although it has highly skilled professionals passing on their skills, I don’t think that ultimately having Alesha on the show is going to diminish from it’s success.

I think it’s our reaction as viewers that will do that.

I hold my hands up and say that I am one of those viewers who had a little rant and a quick-to-judge reaction about all this…she’s not qualified, she’s too nice and so on.

Let’s give Alesha a chance and enjoy Strictly for what it is..a fantastic, wonderful entertainment show, with gret dancing, hard work and great escapism.

    Your mum was just repeating what Alisha herself said on Mondays ITT “just a storm in a tea cup”.

    I say let’s keep it brewing and make sure she is not back next year, because we have no chance of getting her out this year.

    While we are at it lets get Len out too.

    Anton and Karen Hardy in their place.

    Bring back Arlene – you can’t beat experience! Anton to replace Brucie. How about a guest judge each week? Keep Craig he’s usually bob on with marks and comments. It wouldn’t be the same without OTT Bruno too.
