Brendan Cole thinks Arlene Phillips will be missed on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
However, he said it was inevitable that there would be changes to the show and that he’s looking forward to the new format.
The dancer – the show’s resident bad boy – told Digital Spy: “I definitely think she’ll be missed from the format, but it’s a funny thing.
“As much as I loved Arlene and the way things were, things do change. People come and go.”
He added: “We have three new dancers, which is mega-exciting, two new judges coming in – there’s so much happening on the show that I think it’s a winner. But, yes, Arlene will be missed.”
Cole also said he can’t wait to get started on Strictly, and that he is excited about being partnered with Jo Wood, who he says he has great chemistry with.
He added: “It’s quite interesting, we got in the studio yesterday and there was that whole thing, ‘Are we going to get on?’,” he said.
“But literally, this girl is so exciting and she just bounded in with enthusiasm. I think this partnership, and I know I’m being biased, has the potential to be dynamite.”
Arlene Phillips is being replaced by singer Alesha Dixon, when the series returns to TV on September 18.
