ali-and-brian-kiss

In a somewhat shocking results show Ali and Brian were voted out of Strictly Come Dancing in tonight’s semi-finals.

Ricky and Natalie were announced as finalists first and then Chris and Ola…who looked shocked but very happy! Well done to both!

Ali and Brian looked devestated but at least they have found love! Ali thanked Brian and went in for a kiss! Brian then went in for another kiss..then another one on the dancefloor!

Ali was happy that she had gone out on a high and Tess said “You’ve got your American Boy”..typical Tess!

The finals next week will be sooo exciting. Will the technically beautiful Ricky win or will the underdog have his day?

  • tramp

I am delighted that Chris and Ola are in the final, they bring the true delights of dancing to us mere mortals sitting on the sofa watching them. I know Chris is not the best technician but he is the most warm, entertaining and hardworking celeb. All the so called fans of strictly who are shouting that they wont watch the final…well they are not fans.

  • jo

what a ridiculous semi final. Yes Chris and Olla are great too but Ali and Brian are the better dances. This will leave the final not worth wathching as Ricky and Natalie will win as chris is no contest to Ricky..

it just leaves the end of the series an anticlimax. I wont bother to watch and I feel it was a waste of time watching every week and all the weekday programmes..and I feel let down by the system operated.

  • http://eddiechanks@talktalk.net eddie

same old story.best dancers voted off, what a farce. its time that this is based on judges votes.

  • http://www.strictlycomedancing.tv gwen

What a disappointment. I was so looking forward to seeing Ali and Brian in the final. They deserved to get there. What is wrong with people? We will have another week of Chris’s silly expressions. I suppose he could win now against that fabulous dancer Ricky. There;s no justice is there.

  • http://StrictlycomeDancing Caroline Sutcliffe

What a farce! Brian and Ali were much better than Chris & Ola, scoring 5 perfect 10′s. The public vote has messed up again. The final will not be worth watching. THIS IS A DANCE COMPETITION AND NOT A POPULARITY COMPETITION. The final vote should be made by the Judges, but that would not generate income via the telephone vote charges.

  • Carolyn

I thought this was a DANCE not a personality competion, Chris and Ola as endearing as they were should never have got this far, it is a travisty that Ali and Brian were voted off, espesially after getting a 50 and the comments they got obviously that did not mean anything to the voting public. It should never have been down to the public at all it should have stayed in the format that it has always used.
I shall not be watchng the final. I really want Ricky to win and I hope he does as he is the best of the two, but if Chris wins it will show just what a farce it is, he is better than when he first started but not that much!

  • Kath

Well, I hope the BBC are satisfied. They presumably surmised that if they let the public know that they’d have their way, so Chris *I’ll just stand here and pull faces while Ola does most of the dancing* Hollins could walk into the final, ratings would go up.

He seems a nice enough lad, but there’s been quite a few nice competitors, as far as I can make out; it’s not something he’s communicated especially through dance, nor is it enough to qualify him as a finalist in a dance competition. On what evidence can anyone assert that he’s been the most hardworking?

Will the BBC be rearranging the voting again next week to ensure that he wins? Is it really worth it, to scrape back a few miserable viewers from ITV’s Saturday prime time offering?

I wish the BBC would bite its lip on the ratings, let ITV keep those hubristic viewers who want to run the show by voting for this year’s pet underdog, and run *Strictly* as a dance competition which rewards contestants’ hard-won skills in a more equitable way. No public voting at all!

  • http://eddiechanks@talktalk.net charlieh

this is supposed to be a dance competition not a popularity contast. same as last year the result has been fixed by the public.chris and ola are easy on the eye but are not in the same league. this competition should be decided on judges votes alone, but then it would not bring in the same revenue as the telephones do. what a farce i will not be watching the final.

  • David

I am not a fan of Strictly Come Dancing – in fact, tonight was the first time I watched the program in it’s entirety. Even so, I was amazed that Chris and Ola got through to the final, because I agree with many of the comments posted here. To me, it was obvious that Ali and Brian should have got to the final because they were better, thankfully not just my opinion, but that of the judges and most of the posts here and I am very disappointed that the BBC are so biased to one of there own presenters. Chris and Ola were good, but Brian and Ali were so much better.

  • Chris

I have watched each week – but not next week. To vote to keep a couple who could only get 80 points and vote off a couple with 92 is ludicrous. The rules need sorting out so that if there is a withdrawal like Jade’s or even John S last year that the numbers get made up either by reintroducing a couple or having a week when nobody is eliminated.

  • Elaine

Cant beeive that Ali and Brian were voted off. Come the public this is supposed to be a dance contest. Ali and Brian are by far the best dancers. This should have been a judges vote.

  • Gill

I can\’t believe Ali & Brian were voted off. They are fantastic dancers and were much better than Chris Hollins. Something needs to be done about the voting and the judging when the ones with the poorest marks get through to the final. Personally I think Chris should have been voted off ages ago just for the stupid faces he pulls all the time. Won\’t be watching the final now!

  • Chandra

Totally devastated and physically sick that Ali and Brian were so unjustly voted off. They worked so hard, beautiful couple and above all genuinely good dancers. My heart goes out to both of them.Once again the BBC, AND JUDGES, should take stock analyse this injustice if they wish the next series to be a success.

  • Matt

Forget the judges and go straight to the public vote as it is obvious those who are ‘experts’ are not required.

  • Telboy

When are the Execs at the BBC going to learn!!!! The minute you give the public the vote, that is when a major majority of their viewers will vote in a way to try and screw up the competition!!!!
    Again, they have succeeded.
It beggars belief that someone who is judged as PERFECT in a Dance can be voted off!!
I\’ll bet Len is spitting feathers!
    WELL DONE BBC….YET ANOTHER FARCE!!!!

  • Sue

Chris and Ola should have been voted off ages ago. You could see from the smug expression on his face that he knew beforehand that he wouldnt be voted off. The BBC deliberately did away with the dance off because they knew he would then get through. The judges should have the final say every week, its ridiculous.

  • valerie bird

AGAIN THE COMPETITION HAS BECOME A FARCE.

IT WONT BE WORTH WATCHING NEXT WEEK. WHY HAVE JUDGES IF THEIR VOTE DOESNT COUNT.

ITS JOHN SARGEANT ALL OVER AGAIN!

  • Niamh

I have watched Strictly Come Dancing from the beginning and for me Brian & Ali stood out each time. They were always fabulous and no question of them not being in the final. What an anti-climax now without them in it. Doubt I’ll bother to watch it. They were by far the better dancers. It’s an injustice. The judges should have made the decision. Such a great show and very entertaining. What a shame. You need to sort this out BBC!

  • Cuban pete

The whole thing is a farse, you wouldn’t give a medal to an athlete because they’re ‘warm,’ or ‘entertaining’ it’s a competition, the best should win. So why an earth is Chris in it? Ali and Ricky are the best two competetors. Yes Ricky let himself down by being violent on a night out, but people should vote for the best dancer and for no other reason.

  • http://SCD Jogaila

I couldn’t agree more with all the comments. A final between Ricky and Ali would hsave really been worth watching, with no clear winner from the start. As it is…..
And what is wrong with |Bruce ? Those spiteful comments about Anton at the start, no wonder nobody laughed. Having 5 judges is fine, but sometimes only 4 are allowed to speak, as the time is taken up with his silly waffle. Shut up, Bruce, and let people who know what they are talking about ( well, apart from Alesha) give their professional views.

  • jaycee

Could predict this ridiculous outcome. Every week the judges have had the chance to rescue “dancers” from the dance off, except at the most important part, the semi-final. Ali v Ricky would have been a dance competition and an exciting final, but how ever hard he tries Chris will NEVER reach the same standard (no disrespect he is a lovely guy). Thanks BBC, wont bother too watch now.

  • http://rickfarrow.co.uk Cuban pete

I agree what are thee BBC doing?…
If I had been dancing years to become a professioanl, only to have some kid (be it very naturally tallented, like Alesha who had been doing it 5 minutes,) judge me, can’t say as I’d be very impressed.

And well the fact Ali was voted off, just confirms it. Can we sort it out please?

  • Alan

Perhaps it should be re-named “Srictly Come Gurning”

  • Shepherd

From the word go everyone has pointed out how wonderful Ricky is. He makes mistakes , pulls silly faces while singing to himself yet not one of the judges comment. With Chris it was an obsession with the judges to comment on his facial expressions. It is the dancing which I thought was being judged. Chris has never been in the bottom two. he bring a lot of joy to the dancing. Could the popularity with the public be due to the poor marks from the judges for dances which so deserved higher marks. The other two couples could do no wrong and even when mistakes where made and commented on by the judges high marks are still given. There has been so much unfairness this year.

  • Anna Venora

Strictly has changed its format from dance competition to popular celebrity contest. Very sad, the program is now the poorer for it. The BEEB must have found out it is the most lucrative way to get money out of the viewers. There is now no point in having the likes of Len or the rest of the professional judges, all they need is a line of aleshas making silly comments like Bruce for the giggles. I think it is an insult to the professional dancers who put in so much work to win a competition on dancing ability. Ricky and Ali were clear winners.

  • JULIE

Absolutely agree with most of the above comments. What a rediculous thing to allow. The judges must be furious!!! Last time I watch. Time to put Strictly come dancing to bed and find another program.

  • http://strictly Neerod

What a farce – while ringing to vote for Ali I received an engaged tone 9 times, I would love to know the percentage of calls per couple – Chris is a jolly enough man but he is not a dancer. So disappointed with the result any why have judges at all if they are not able to decide the worthy finalists? So sorry for Ali and her partner they deserved to be in the final, I will watch the final but will not waste my time voting anymore, there doesn\’t seem to be a point to it any more. Go Ricky!!!

  • JimJam

First the Bankers lost the plot! Now the great British public have confirmed just how stupid the whole phone-in system [now used on practically every TV show as an additional earner]is. Somebody should stop it now. And then have a two part panel of judges present every show – 4 experts and 4 members of the public. No outside [and unknown] voting. As a casual onlooker [and non voter] I would have to say that the final will not be contested by the \’best dancers\’ of the series!!!!!!

  • Rosie

Can’t believe that Ali and Brian were voted out. I was so looking forward to seeing them dance in the final.
Time to cut out public voting and leave it to the experts.Bring back Arlene too.

  • scoot

I will not be watching next week\’s farce.what a total disappointment.I have been an ardent Strictly fan, but no more.Ali And Brian were the most talented and didn\’t play in a cringe worthy way like the other two couples to the public.Am sick to my stomach with this result.

  • Tis

I thought it was a dance contest too. Chris & Ola are very likeable and entertaining but Ali (with Brian) is in a different league altogether – the true champions have been cheated out of a place in the final.
The sentimental public are at fault here, I’m sure Chris & Ola are over the moon but also – I suspect – deeply embarrassed.

  • Lynda House

    Badly done BBC, badly done!

  • Phil Schofield

What a ridiculous result, Hollins may be a likeable chat, but dancer he ain’t, tha man is totally talentless …much like a young John Sargent.
In fact in our household, last nights result was laughable.
It just goes to prove, that when the public are allowed to vote on a contest, the buffons come out of the woodwork.

  • Blossom

When Strictly first started Bruce was perfect as host – he has now become far too big for his aged boots and decidedly unkind and unfunny. The Ali and Brian situation reminds me of series one when there was also a farce of a final due to public voting. Surely the dance off was supposed to prevent that happening again, so why do away with it?
Come on BBC – get a grip.

  • http://www.strictlycomedancing.tv Conniebelle

A final with Ali and Brian dancing against Ricky and Natalie would have been AMAZING. Ali was the true star of last night’s show…she was gracious and dignified. She must have been utterly utterly disappointed and yet she remained calm and composed with just a few tears at the end. Ali and Brian you were wonderful!

  • carol

If you must take account of the public\’s choice then bring back the audience \’clapometer\’! Standing ovations were deserved.

  • Tracey

Shocked on the outcome!! why couldn’t they just let all 3 couples through to the final like last year??
Ali & Brian deserved to be there, they must be devastated to be out,and with their perfect score has well!!
In my eyes Ali & Brain you are the best! x

  • http://patricia.thomas@hackney.gov.uk patricia on December 13th 2009

Ali and brian should not be voted out of the competition
Chris and Ola do not deserve to be in the final. I hope the winner for 2009 would not be a disappointment as i expected last year for the italian man to win but he did not because they were the best dancers as far as i was concerned.I do hope the when the viewers vote they look at good dancing and not who is entertaining.

  • bob

What happened on Saturday makes a mockery of the Show. OK Chris might be entertaining to watch but to be in the final instead of Ali who had a perfect score is scandalous. I certainly will not watch the final as the best dancers will not be in it. If there had been a dance off then maybe the outcome would have been different but who knows. If the public cannot see who the better dancer is between Ali & Chris there is something wrong with them. If Chris wins the final it will be an absolute disgrace.

  • john

CAN I HAVE MY MONEY BACK PLEASE ……I WOZ ROBBED

  • Deb

Well its the hard work that had alot to do with the vote I believe. they have all grafted, it was anyones, cannot we all remember something in our lives we had to work harder than others because we didnt quite have the natural talent to pull it off. its not fair I agree that the high scoring couple got voted off, for sure they will feel exactly the same but will enter into the spirit of the show I am sure. The only ones that are going to be hurt by missing the show, are those that rave on about the unfairness and the “im never going to watch it again”! Well I dont intend on being sad and missing the highlight that is Strictly Come Dancing. Have you forgotten people, the votes are for charity!!!!

  • http://Google carmela

Ali and Brian voted out,how unfair is that. im sure this system is unfair, like last year final when Rachel and Vincent should have won, Ali and Brian are Fabulous, Craig has given them 2 10,s and he,s honest. I wont watch the final.

  • mr,dave bentley

i wont be watching next week……………….what a scam.

  • caitlin

Why don’t we all calm down? This is a LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT programme. It is not an official dancing compeition, is it?
If it was, Ali wouldn’t have got top marks and nor would Ricky. It was the judges trying to stick their oars in and make the final THEY want which isn’t right.
If I as a person want to vote for the couple who I think embodies what I LOVE about this show, Chris and Ola, then I will.
Chris has not been perfect every week but he’s come back fighting. He has been overlooked and overmarked and the British love an underdog. I feel he has made an improvment, which is what I love. He’s went from forgetting steps to doing really good routines.
I’ll put my hands up and say they, maybe not as good technically as Ali and Brian made up for it with their eagerness and enthusiam.
So why don’t we all calm down and stop saying “I’ve been a fan for years and won’t be watching”. Trust me I’ve said that many times for this show and if you’re a true fan you would be watching next week anyway and I bet many who say this will tune in for interest.

  • caitlin

I meant undermarked in my previous post, sorry.

  • Deb

    Bravo well said!

you have a 10 from me!

  • aacs880

If Kate Price is one of the competitor, I will guess she does not need to dance and will the competition. It is shame!

  • http://strictlycomedancing mrs claire

I was gutted totally disappointed. It is like handing it to Ricci on a plate. Ali has been beautiful and had some lovely dances and well worth being in the final. Chris is beginning to irritate and should have been kicked out long lo ng ago,

  • Annette

Brian and Ali are such beautiful dancers, it is a shame they will not be in the final. It does seem as if the whole of last week’s Strictly programs were geared at getting Chris and Ola into the final and this is a shame because it is supposed to be about the dancing. I won’t watch the final because I think it will now be boring with no real dance competition happening.

  • http://google Mike (N Ireland)

This is just a nonsence. How can a competitor by eliminated after being awarded five straight 10\\\’s and delivering such a bravura performance?

OK Ola is pretty but that silly lad she dances with a waste of space. The judges should have given better guidance with their comments instead of giving unwarranted encouragement.

Anyway the should have been a dance off so that the credibility of the show could have been maintained.

    Altogether most disappointing.

  • Charlotte

THIS IS OUTRAGOUS!!!!!! Last there was a week were all couples went through as john left and as the votes were mucked up!! but this year the same happens and what do the bbc do??? take care of their own!! Ali and Brian had a magical connection and danced so beautifully. they should now be put into the final so the bbc can rectify their mistake!!! otherwise a boycott of veiwing and voting for the show is called for!!

  • Charlotte

THIS IS OUTRAGOUS!!!!!! • Roy Newall

How can this happen? Ali & Brian have been consistantly better than vertually anyone and now they are out. I shall not watch the final! The scoring next year MUST change. Let the judges do it or have the same system as Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Let say 250 of the audience vote on key pads at least they are there because they like dancing and not voting because they like a TV show or come from the same town as the contestant. And its time to get rid of Bruce Forsyth. He gets mixed up and more importantly interupts the judges and his jokes are terrible.

  • Laura Purkiss

I cannot understand the backlash that has come around because Chris and Ola got through to the final. I actually feel sorry for them if they read any of these blogs but for their sakes I hope they haven’t bothered. They were voted through to the final fair and square. If Ali had got enough votes, it would have been a different story. Yes the show is about the dancing but its also about the entertainment factor. I would not bother watching if the public had no say because then it would not be a competition. Everyone has a different opinion on this but I cannot see how putting Chris down is going to help. The final is Chris v Ricky and there won’t be any changes to that so why dont we all just enjoy the final. Let the best man win!

  • Francesca

I just think it’s really sad that one of the best dancers left the competition last night because the BBC decided to change the rules of the competition. The final will be such a one-sided affair dance-wise now. Ali could have given Ricky a real run for his money, whereas Chris will probably win by simply out-popular-ing him.

ITT has really pushed the Team Cola bandwagon far further than it ought; are we going to be ‘treated’ to another week of ‘Yeah baby’ and how cute little are Team Cola? If so, I’ll be giving the show a miss.

Bill Turnbull and his shameless promotion of Chris every morning on BBC Breakfast has an awful lot to answer for as well (I’ll be listening to the radio tomorrow morning instead as I really don’t think I’ll be able to stomach his gloating.

And I didn’t even have a favourite this series!

  • Catrina

Such a shame that Ali and Brian are gone. They were the only couple out of the three that I thought deserved to go through and make such a good couple. Please stay together, I might have to cry if you don’t :)

  • Maria

What a complete waste of time watching all these weeks. Absolutely no point in watching the final. We love Chris, but it should absolutely be Ali and Brian in the final, then it would be worth watching.

This is a DANCE competition, nothing to do with who’s the nicest person. So sorry to see Ali and Brian go and I bet Ricky and Natalie feel the same, no challenge at all now.

  • caitlin

I think Ricky should feel very challenged against Chris. He is against the public’s favourite and the underdog all in one. You can’t deny that Chris, although not as bad can dance. He deserved his place.

  • louise

I agree with many of the previous comments. Chris and Ola have been continually promoted by BBC colleagues and fellow dancers on the program and this is bound to have some influence on the public. This is not fair to hard working but not such adept publicity seeking dancers such as Brian and Ali. Their dancing is great and would have made for an excellent final competition. I also have to congratulate Ali on the dignified way she accepted the vote. I wish there was some way she could appear in the final, it would give many of us a great deal of pleasure.

  • disappointed

I agree with the general mood of the comments posted here. It is a travesty that the only couple to get a perfect score are not through to the final. I think the BBC should look again at the voting rules to make it a proper dancing competition not a popularity contest. It would be a total farce if Chris and Ola were to go on and win, because it is obvious that Ricky is a far superior dancer compared to Chris. If he was as gracious an individual as John Sergeant, Chris would have withdrawn as he is taking the place of better dancers!

  • Hilary

I actually thought Ali and Brian were overmarked with five tens last night. The performance was a bit lacklustre and Ali seemed very nervous and a bit hesitant. Their performances had no WOW factor. I for one am looking forward to the final. Although I want Ricky and Natalie to win I think Chris and Ola will do a wonderful lindy hop. Their charleston was brilliant. Roll on Saturday

  • Deb

I am struggling with the fact that I cannot see the problem in Chris`s co workers supporting him and being bias. wouldnt we all do that for any of ours? maybe i am just being naive here. for the little news that I watch on tv (more a radio person myself) its been friendly joking banter, this is just silly now blaming the bbc. lets all get that life we have promised ourselves, enjoy! this is entertainment and for one if a programme makes me sit down for a few hours then its gotta be good no matter what happens, it will be exciting, lets face it who knows who will pull it out of the bag and who will goof up big time on the night. Pressure enough? I am sure the professionals not in the competition will be getting behind both couples and sharing their expertise, lets do the same eh? Be charitable to those left and like I said before to the charity by which all our calls gets the benefit of, children in need! by boycotting the programme your depriving both the charity and the chance god forbid the bbc will remove the only reality tv show worth any interest. There is just no competition.

  • jen

I’m extremely happy that Ali is not in the final. She has been severely overmarked every week, she cannot do latin. Last night did two boring routines, her AT was lacklustre, lacked passion, no chemistry between her and Brian whatsoever. Yet she gets 9s. The talk of dead granny (yawn yawn yawn), injury and so-called romance. The kiss at the end of the AS was cringeworthy. Glad the GBP didn’t fall for it. She scored 10s for a routine where she made mistakes. It’s an entertainment show and the best two are in the final.

  • Nicola

Sorry Ali, you were the best dancer, you should have been given the chance to prove it. What no dance off… why?? My cynical side says that this programme is driven by money. Chris and Ola were popular and people were phoning in.
Is it an entertainment programme or a competition? Strictly needs to make up it’s mind. I won’t be watching the final because the whole idea is too farcical.
N.B. More of Claudia, less of Tess, more of Karen Hardy and less of Aleisha/Darcey. Thankyou.

  • Janet

I absolutely love Strictly Come Dancing and feel privileged to watch such a professional show so I was deeply disappointed when the show was spoilt for me with the result last night. It just makes a farce out of the dance competition. It is supposed to be on the dancing and not popularity and it would have been such a good final with the two couples who were the best dancers in it namely Ali & Brian and Ricky and Natalie. What is the point of having the judges giving their scores and then being overruled by the public? Everyone I have spoken to feels the same way. Things have got to be done differently.

  • Deb

what would be the point of the show if you only included the judges scores. then it becomes a professional dance show not entertainment, no surprises, no ohh and ahhs
Fine then if I was the bbc I would remove it, the ratings would drop, there would be no point. I am not everyone.

  • http://www.strictlycomedancing.tv Mari

If the bbc\’s main aim with SCD is to make money and give money to charity then the whole show needs a revamp. When proffesionals and partener work so hard to give the best performance then the BEST PREFORMANCE should win, surely. If they think it necessary to bring in the public then give the judges 75% of the vote and the public 25% or what are the judges there for? As saying that Ali and Brian have no chemistry!!! They sizzle!!!!! Loved the kiss and they should be IN THE FINAL. Hope the romance continues,Ali and Brian.

  • tim

I have never watched dancing until this year and became hooked on it. Sadly, the result was blatantly wrong and I have to question if the voting was rigged, ie not being able to get through to vote for Ali etc.
I feel I have wasted all these weeks for a John Sergeant type result. It is a dancing competition and not a popularity contest.

  • http://google Mike (N Ireland)

Are these comments to be brought to the attention of the BBC? If so I hope the BBC will ashamed of themselves.

Its not just Ali and Brain, the whole Strictly audience have been given a gratuitous slap in the face.

  • neil

what a superb result fantastic chris and ola just go to show the public thought you were great

  • Dave

Robbed of a proper final. The BBC have been very clever in their manipulation of Chris and Ola and the ridiculous free propaganda given on biased “Breakfast”. Chris seems a reasonable chap but he has used his camera prowess to the maximum, when he says “Thankyou” each time he gets through he upsets my stomach.
Ali and Ricky are the real winners here.

  • Susan

It was unjust that there was no dance off in the semi final. Ali and Brian demonstrated how good they are with their perfect scores last night. They should be in the final. The BBC need to listen to constructive comments and think about this for future series if they want people to support them.

  • tim

I think its the John Sergeant/Jedward voting tactics at work.
This being the case I reckon Chris could win the final showing the voting system for what it is – pointless.

  • ishy

What a farce yet again the best dancers are voted off.Why was the dance off cancelled. What are the judges there for if not to make sure that the best dancers progress to the final.Brian and Ali have been fantastic their performances have been perfection but that seems to go for nothing as SCD has turned into a popularity contest as the saga of John Sargent proved last year.Brian and Ali I wish you well and hope you are winners in love.

  • http://strictly Rich

Absolute farce. Will not watch this programme ever again. The smug little man going through, disgrace. You could say its a corrupt & rigged vote, amazing how the BBC presenter gets through to the final. If he had anything about him he should step down & let the best dancers through, although theres not a chance in hell of him doing that as he has no integrity & believes that he’s being voted for, for his dancing rather than Olla’s non existent dresses. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE.! Shame on you beeb.

  • Lin

To think that I was under the impression the show was about Talent. How wrong I was! Ola is a great dancer and should be congratulated on her ability to have dragged Chris along. However I have to agree with the majority of the comments,it is a farce. Brian and Ali could have gone on to win if the dance off was in place. It should have been so that the professional judges could have placed constraint over the somewhat blinded public. Chris is a great bloke but not a great dancer. Let us hope that this ridiculous situation is not repeated in the final, do not trust the public when it comes down to judging a technical interpretation mixed with artistic talent! As a family we now consider it to be a waste of time watching the program.Shame on you BBC for now serving up a lukewarm final, it has spoilt the series and brings any further ones down the ratings.

  • Eddie

I agree with a lot of the comments above.Ali & Brian should have been in the final.I was very very disappointed with the result.Sounds like the biggest fiddle since Nero let Rome burn.
Won\’t be watching next week and I won\’t waste my money again.

  • Sylv F

It has been obvious for some time Chris & Ola would reach the final Their profile has been constantly exaggerated every time a presenter mentioned Strictly at the expense of far better dancers.Chris’s facial expressions,’say babe’ and mime of thank you to camera extremely irritating.
Change of voting proved it.Ali, Brian you was robbed

  • hillwalker

No problems with the final two. Ricky a joy to watch, Chris such fun and what strictly is about, an underdog working his socks off to get better, which he has week by week, he is not a John Seargant who had no talent at all. Ali a lovely dancer but as Len says a bit of a one trick pony and for me a bit bland. In the end it is about entertainment as well as dance skill. Relax, enjoy the show, its meant to be fun not the meaning of life.

This is Saturday night entertainment not serious competition. People vote for who they want to watch again. Unfortunately for Ali and Brian more people want Chris and Ola in the final. The celebrities are paid for their appearance, this is not a talent show. If everyone who is complaining about the result want a serious competition they should tell the BBC and ask for Come Dancing to come back, oh sorry that was taken off because no one watched it. I for one would rather watch Chris and Ola than a ‘perfect couple’.

I nagree with most of the above comments, that Ali and Brian should be in the final next week. The BBC have got it wrong in oh so many ways this year, the biggest one being not having a dance-off in the semi-final. However, it is not the contestants that will put me off watching the final as I have enjoyed watching them both in the past. It is the fact that they have to perform a so-called ‘show dance’ next week. The show dance shown on Saturday evening was a mixture of acrobatics and gymnastics – now way could you call it dancing in the commonly accepted meaning of the word. Boring! Unattractive! Unglamorous! Something is going badly wrong at the beeb if this is supposed to be the grand finale of the series!!

I’m voting for Chris and Ola in the final as Chris although he can’t dance is a very popular chap on the tele and his Dad was very good at football and played for Chelsea. Ola his partner on the other hand is a very good dancer and very pleasing on the eye to watch.
Ricky and Natalie have made the final on dance ability only and although Ricky is an actor on some tele programme he is no where near as popular and well known as Chris.
If ” Strictly ” was a dance competition probably Ali and Brian would have made the final also but as it is Chris and Ola are way out front in the personality stakes.

  • tim

I must have got it wrong as I was under the impression that it was a dancing competition.
If its a popularity competition then I wont be watching any more as I would have prefered a dancing competition.

As so many have said \\"what a farce\\". How do we the viewers know that the votes are not rigged? Why was the number for Ali and Brian \\\’unavailable\\\’ so much on saturday for instance??? The whole show has been a huge disapointment this year. I started to become dissillusioned when Zoe was elliminated and it has gone downhill ever since. I won\\\’t be bothering to watch the final

  • http://talktalk.net gillian newin

what a farce how can they possibly let ali and Brian be counted out its not a popularity contest surely

  • wedgewood

please bring back Brian and Ali at least there will be a competition then. Please could we not have James Jordan and Flavia analysing the dancing. His wife is in the final and it is not easy to be com[pletely objective about a fellow colleague. it takes 2 has also studiously avoided any acknowledgement that many people want Ali and Brian in the final Their only response seems to say how wonderful Chris and Ola are. Not a fair way to deal with Saturday.

After reading all the views above it is obvious where most sympathies lay. With Ali and Brian, who were quite clearly robbed of a place in the final because of the no dance-off fix by the BBC.

Although I am not the greatest Ricky Whittle fan, he is so obviously the better dancer of the two finalists, so I would like to suggest to all Ali Bastian fans to vote for Ricky Whittle. I realise that this isn\’t the ideal scenario, but it would at least scupper the BBC\’s plans.

Just an update on the BBC BIAS. Chris Hollins has appeared twice this week as host of the morning programme ‘Cash In The Attic’. He hasn,t done many of them in the past, why this week?

Just a thought from an old cynic. It’s probably a massive coincidence, isn’t it?

    Facts:
1)Chris is not the best dancer of the 3 couples so was always expected to get only 1 point from the judges.
2)As there are only 3 couples in the semi finals, 1 point from the judges would have meant that Chris would be in the dance off (unless there was a 3-way tie where each couple gets 4 points)!
3)In a dance off Chris would have been vote out by the judges.
4)The BBC know how the views vote so would have known that Chris would win a popularity contest.

So what does Chris’s mates at the BBC do?
Well of course, they drop the dance off!
If it’s a 3 way tie then Chris remains in the contest and if there’s no dance off then Chris remains in the contest.
Nice to have friends in high places.
    I’m never watching Strictly again!

Spot on anonymous. As I’ve said all along, a massive BBC fix.

  • http://n/k margaret

i agree the bbc fixed the whole result .we are continually bombarded on the news and other progrmmes about chris hollins.ali and ricky should have beenn in a fair final not the smug chris-he looked all last night that he expected or knew he would win.
i certainly won’t watch next year

  • Team Cola

Chris is a good dancer in no way can you compare him to John Sergant, Chris may not as good as Ali and Ricky but he is a good dancer Chris has got alot of votes because he brings some fun to the competition, He was happy that he got through and I am supporting them through the final….

  • tim

I think the comparisons are realated to the silly voting and not the dancing skills. Chris is not a bad dancer but he shouldn’t have reached the final. Once he had reached the final it was obvious that he would win. I feel for Ali.

  • Ken J

Ali Bastian, winner of the Christmas special. Great.

At last, GOOD DANCE has had the final say in this years substandard show.
