Week 1: Martina and Matthew knocked-out!

I am really dissapointed with the alleged expert (Len Goodman)who ruined the show for me by shocking the nation by voting for “the celebrity”, rather than the better dancer on the night.

Thought the BBC would have stopped rigging competitions by now. How can Martina be voted off. They were far better than the Crimewatch and Eastenders Stars. Oh, of course, its obvious now. More corrupt than an election in a banana rebublic.

How did Joe & Kristina survive …. Oh yes vote for the sportsman!! Martina improved tonight, Joe well words fail me

For me the big disappointment is that Arlene has gone. What a waste of space Aleisha is. I feel sorry for her but she is still a waste of space.

What a joke. This just makes a mockery of the whole show.

HOW did Martini end up going? Stunned. I feel so sorry for her – I really thought she had a long way to go in this series. Matt looked absolutely gutted, and rightfully so. Sort it out judges.

I like Alesha, but seriously bring back Arlene please.

I think tonight Len Goodman has lost his marbles.How could allow Martina to be voted off.
I always thought he new what he was talking about,not so sure now.
As for keeping the so called Eastenders star,I expect he will continue through to the final stages,however rubbishy he is.After all he is talented actor,viewed by millions who watch the depressing soap each week and have very little taste.So what can you expect
Come on BBC lets have some real quality,or have you forgotten what that means !!!

Wow, Joe and Rav really dodged a bullet there. Martina no way deserved to go.

I was stunned when Len voted to save Rav. Insane.

I think Len voted for Rav simply to create some drama and interest in an otherwise lack lustre start to the series. What a shame to reduce the competition to this level. And i agree, bring back Arlene and some informative comments.

Our V Plus cut us off before the end , but what a relief- my eleven year old daughter and I were rooting for Rav. Martina looked like a sack of potatoes being dragged across the floor at times !

Agree that Rav should’ve gone;or Lynda or Joe;but i am glad he stayed because Aliona is stunning;shame to see her go so early.Thought Martina had potential to develop into a good dancer.What a surprise Chris Hollins was;he could win the whole show.And yes;although i really like Alesha and she is one of the most beautiful women i know;she isn’t qualified to be a judge.Maybe they are going along lines of X Factor, Simon knows nothing about music;Louis Walsh gave us Westlife the most annoying offensive group of all time; Dannii is only famous because of her sister and the other tart is a member of a totally untalented load of tarts.

I’m a big fan from overseas of strictly for many years.I prefer to watch strictly on BBC than in my country, because I always thought the show in England had a higher standard. But what happened tonight? Is this a protest from len to get Arlene back? Or is it just another phone-game? Very disappointed.

I still love stricktly, but it was much better with Arlene, and I agree with others, how could Martina be voted out??? I mean the OXO lady was rubish!!

Matt and Martina, were just the shows scapegoats. and it is all because of the new judge. Matt taught her all SHE knows, so it will seem bad if he brought someone else to to final, so he has to suffer for

Watch out you other guys, your careers are also in jepordy, They might decide to change the judge and then you will have to be the first out

My heart goes out to you Matt, you were great far far better than some of the other in the first two dances.

We agree with most of the above – Aleisha is lovely, but had nothing to add. Why why why did they get rid of Arlene, it has ruined the dynamic of the judging team. Surely they could have found someone with a professional knowledge of dancing, and able to make constuctive comments. As for Martina going out first – she was far from amazing, but much better than Rav and the rest of the low scorers, and we have lost the lovely Matthew as well.

Please bring back Arlene, she knew what she was talking about. Listening to Alesha’s comments I did not think there was anything constructive in them and she does not have the technical knowledge that Arlene has. Strictly was FAR better with Arlene and I used to look forward to watching it every week, but now it has lost a lot of credability. Martina should definitely stayed. Just one more comment, when Alesha laughed I thought it was one of my geese honking.

Apart from Aleisha\’s very superficial comments I thought the latest series got off to a good start but spiolt by the dance off decision. Martina was much better than Rav and had greater potential for improvement but Bruno voted for his favourite (as with all previous series) and Len voted for Rav just to spite Craig. Very disappointing. Although Linda and Ricky were poor dancers I\’m sure they will get the public vote so that we can laugh at them each week.

Goodbye Strictly Come Dancing ……… we have just experienced our first FIXED VOTING ………. what a waste of viewers time and money…………… absolutely disgusting! This should be looked into without delay!!!!!!!

We thought this was a dance context. Then last year with John Sargent, they said it was entertainment. We guess they forgot to mention the word JOKE. Simply disgusting and an insult to your viewers. How and Nos 4 & 5 go into the dance-off ??? In any case, you are definitely going to loose audience – we’re going out next week and not recording.

Absolutely disgraceful decision by Head Idiot Len Goodman. Totally FIXED. How can a couple that the judges scored 46 earlier inhte evening suddenly deteriorate in performance to be worse than the couple they scored 41? There’s no way such an improvement can happen in the space of a couple of minutes dance off. There’s no accounting for the public in phone votes and the fact that the wrong couples were in the dance off to start with, but surely the professionals have some integrity in what is supposed to be a dancing competition. The early departure of one of the best choreographers in Matthew Cutler has ruined the series for me. I know which channel I will be watching next week and it won’t be BBC1. The show has zero credibility now – judges that aren’t judges and danders that don’t dance – what a waste of time!

SO disappointing it verged on tatty,Alesha is lovely but she seemed hesitant with her obsrevations,so not fair on her,she hasn’t got the experience to be a judge why on earth is she there?Apart from Ali somebody or other,no one seemed to have a lot of potential and its so boring when the winner is chosen on the first programm.Hated to see the gloating male judges,it really was an awful show and though I have had it on sries link I am going to delete it there has to be something better and that wouldn’t difficult.it was perfect as far as I am concerned when they started the show,NO NEED TO GILD A LILY get to basics thats why people watched it and teenagers and young twenties go out on saturday nights or watch X Factor get back to the beginning BBC,bring back Arlene,that really was a bad decision!!!Don’t suppose any change will be made because of course the BBC know best. It was very disappointing, despite some entertaining moments. Alesha added very little to the show as a judge (albeit a picturesque presence). Martina did not deserve to go (and we can’t even blame it entirely on the phone-in, although how Joe Calzaghe – whom I really like and respect as a boxer, but was touchingly gauche as a dancer – or Lynda (although I do always root for the older woman or man, as it is much harder to learn dancing at their age) could possibly be saved over poor Martina? I hate to think this but could it be because she was a foreigner?

i thought len was an honourable man …..how misguided am i ?? it was a joke that he voted against martina …was he watching the same show as me ….i\’m so disappointed in him ….not watching the show any more …(my husband will be pleased anyway )

We watch the show from abroad and my husband was very surprised to see a non-Brit and a non TV personality as a contestant in the show, i.e. Martina Hingis. We couldn’t watch the second show and I’ve only just found out that she was voted off and we’re thinking could it be because she isn’t a Brit and a high profile personality? Could this have influenced Len’s decision to keep a well-known Brit TV personality in? Hope not but nothing would surprise me….
