Kelly Brook to replace Alesha Dixon in Strictly Come Dancing 2010?

Kelly Brook has fueled speculation that she is being lined up to become a judge on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing as a replacement for Alesha Dixon.

Kelly, 30, said: “I’d love to (be a judge). I love dancing and from a judging point of view, you have to approach it from the viewers’ point of view as well as a technical one.

“More often than not you have the ones that aren’t the best winning, because they put on such a performance and are charismatic. People underestimate that.”

She added: “That’s why I did Britain’s Got Talent and Dirty Dancing – because I recognise what it takes to be a performer and what it takes to to make something go from being a normal dance to something phenomenal.”

Alesha Dixon famously crashed and burned as judge last year and got a lot of flack for her juding style- will Kelly be any better?

Kelly Brook was in series 5 and danced with Brendan Cole but had to withdraw in week 8 becuase her father passed away.

Let the speculation continue…

Yes please! While anyone could do a better job than Alesha, Kelly would be a fabulous addition to the judges panel.

Well, I was sorely disappointed last year with the new line up of judges, and I’m afraid from this post, it will be exactly the same. Kelly Brook as sweet as sugar Candy..but an empty vessell, and what does she know about dancing? NOTHING, she is not a trained dancer, no more than Alesha Dixon. The BBC need to decide if they are putting on a family show where the audience really wants to watch dancing with people who know how to dance and judge dance – OR put on a show of scantily clad narcisstic, utterly self-obsessed people..Ah sorry, it’s the latter!

The show should return to it’s original format, I nearly turned off last year, but them thought, the BBC will come to their senses and bring back the team – Arlene Phillips, BRILLIANT, she should be one of the judges. And as for getting rid of the Matt Cutler, Darren Bennet, Iain Waite, and last but certaily NOT least the lovely Bria Fortuna ( Yes I know he stepped down, and good for him ) is absolute madness. The show goes from bad to WORSE!

WELL WHAT CAN ONE SAY I AGREE THAT MAYBE BRUCIE IT FEELING OLDER , BUT LEN IS BY FAR THE MOST EXPERIENCED JUDGE AND TO THINK THAT ANYONE ELSE CAN JUDGE WTHOUT ANY DANCE EXPERIENCE IS JUST DAFT ONE TURN AROUND A DANCE FLOOR DOES’NT GAIN ANYONE THE REAL EXPERIENCE, WHY NOT OFFER THE JOB TO ONE OF THE PROFESSIONAL DANCERS WHO HAVE ALL THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WHAT ARE THE BBC THINKING

I totally agree with all of your comments, Suzanne. A really wonderful dancing competition has become a purely entertainment spectacle with little reference to the original idea. All those great dancers who we knew and loved cast aside for an influx of younger dancers, mostly russian. That’s not to say I don’t like Artem et al. It’s just that we already had perfectly good dancers who were willing to dance in future series and they should not have been sidelined without good reason. I did not notice any deterioration in performance from any of those given the heave-ho.

I also bemoan the fact of having so many different dances on each show. What was wrong with just a waltz and cha-cha-cha for the first week? At least we could better compare the merits of each performance. It also eliminated the pot luck approach where one couple might have a tricky dance at a key moment and thereby lose out as a result.

The props……….I could go on for ever. I just want a dance performance and have a useful critique at the end to help the couples improve. This necessitates having judges who know a sufficient amount about dancing to make suitable comments.

Please BBC (if in the slight hope that anyone of influence reads blogs such as these) can we have either an experienced judge, such as Karen Hardy, or an ex- professional, who in the eyes of the BBC has got too old to dance?
