Bruce Forsyth will continue to front Strictly Come Dancing, the show’s new boss has said, quashing rumours there are plans to replace the veteran presenter.
Rumours that Tess Daly’s husband Vernon Kay was being considered for Brucie’s presenting slot have been doing the rounds, with a source suggesting the 36-year-old is reluctant to sign a new All Star Family Fortunes contract in case the role becomes available.
Danny Cohen, the new BBC One controller, has now told The Mirror: ‘All the speculation about other presenters is confusing, because we haven’t approached anyone else. That is the truth.
‘Bruce is a great entertainer and if he wants to keep doing Strictly, the job is his.’
Mr Cohen added bosses from the BBC will be talking to the 83-year-old about the next series of the immensely successful show when he returns from his holiday in Puerto Rico.
He also hinted Bruce could be granted a special one-off show early next year to celebrate his long career in showbiz.
The comments certainly seem to dispute the claims of a source who told The Sun recently: ‘Bruce is his [Vernon's] idol but everyone knows he may be off soon. Producers keep expecting the call from him any day to say he’s had enough.’
