Fiona and Mark bottom two Blackpool Strictly Come Dancing

Actress Fiona Fullerton and Strictly Come Dancing old guard Anton du Beke have been voted out of Strictly Come Dancing at Blackpool Tower.

Ahhh what a shame! I thought for sure that Mark and Iveta would go – not that I don’t love Mark of course!

Both couples performed their routines again; Mark and Iveta did their Jive to ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’, from Hairspray, and Fiona and Anton performed their American Smooth to ‘Come Fly with Me’ by Frank Sinatra. It was Mark’s second time in the dance-off after being in the bottom two last week, while this was Fiona’s first.

After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts with Craig saving Fiona and Anton, and Darcey and Bruno choosing to save Mark and Iveta. It was then down to Len as Head Judge to cast the final decision.

Fiona and Anton voted off Strictly Come Dancing

Giving his reasons, Len said: “It’s very, very close here. I gave them both eight when they danced first time round. The thing is in the dance-off, you’ve really got to up your game or nerves stifle your performance. One couple I felt really did up their game. The other I think nerves got them and there was a lot of mistakes going on, and for that reason I’m going to save Mark.”

Looking back at her time on the show, Fiona said: “It’s been the most amazing trip. I can’t thank you enough, or the producers at the BBC, for asking me to take part in this show. It’s like being a guest at the best party in the world. It’s been fantastic, thank you. Anton has been unbelievably patient I can’t tell you. I honestly have a memory like a colander. He’s been utterly brilliant. It’s just lovely, thank you darling.”

Anton added: “From my perspective this whole fabulous show is made fun because of the people we get to dance with, and you are just a joy. Every day I come in I get to dance with you. You are really lovely.”

What a fix. Fiona and Anton were by far the best dancers

A huge miscarriage of justice – imagine what the judges would have said to any other contestant who produced such a dreadful ‘jive’. Nothing against Mr Benton, but he wasn’t the better dancer.
