Former Blue Peter presenter (there’s always one) Matt Baker has reportedly signed up for this years Strictly Come Dancing.

Matt is a former gymnast so should be all supple and bendy; has Ola Chops met her match? Matt has worked for the Beeb since 1999 and has gone on the present CountryFile which attracts over five million viewers so has a good fanbase!

Simon Cowell has a paddy about Strictly schedule

Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor are set to clash in the TV schedules for the second year running and Simon Cowell isn’t happy.

The music mogul has ranted at the BBC for putting Strictly at the same time as The X Factor on Saturdays and Sundays. Cowell, 50, has argued it is the wrong move for two of the most popular shows on television to be shown simultaneously.

He’s also mocked the Beeb’s more senior Strictly audience by suggesting it should go out around 5pm, so they can rest after it’s over.

“I would suggest they put it on a bit earlier in the afternoon because their audience is older. I am being serious. Then they can have a nap afterwards if it finishes at six,” Cowell quipped. Last year Simon admitted his mother complained about the schedule clash.

“This is nothing more than being pathetic, childish and doing a disservice to people who pay the licence fee,” he said.

“We don’t pay the licence fee for people to play games with ratings. It is completely and utterly wrong.

Strictly line-up to be revealed on 8th September

The celebrity line-up for this years Strictly Come Dancing will be revealed on 8th September, it has been revealed.

This is the word from the official BBC Strictly blog:

“We’re excited to let you know that we will announce this year’s celebrity line-up on Wednesday 8th of September, the day that we film our brand new red carpet Launch Show.

So it looks like we only have six days to go until we find out who will be putting on the fake tan, sequins and taking to that famous dance floor!

Excited much?

Destiny’s Child Michelle Williams asked to do Strictly Come Dancing

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly; Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child has been asked to appear in this years Strictly Come Dancing, it has been reported, after being offered £100 000.

A source told The Sun: “Michelle is a great booking for us – as she’s an amazing dancer and extremely glamorous.

“We said that we were aiming big this year – and we hope fans of the show will realise that with a booking like her.”

Ok BBC I’ll give you some respect for that, the names are getting bigger, but she can dance already, although I conceed that she probably isn’t trained in ballroom or latin.

Won’t it be a bit like Nicole Schertyertzinger winning Dancing with the Stars?

Goldie (the one with the gold tooth) asked to do Strictly?

Actor and musician Goldie is reportedly being signed up to this years Strictly Come Dancing.

He’s known for being outspoken and not to pull any punched so if this is true I’ll look forward to this years Strictly having a bit more personality than last years.

Strictly pairings to be announced in front of studio audience at BBC!

Contestants on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing will be revealed in a launch show filmed in front of an audience at BBC Television Centre.

They will also be introduced to their dance partners in the one-hour show, to be aired on 11 September – three weeks before the start of the contest. It is thought stars will be paid on a per-show basis this year, rather than being given a flat fee for the series.

And it is understood Bruce Forsyth will no longer present the results show.

The 82-year-old – who missed an episode of Strictly last year after catching influenza – has already revealed that will be taking a pay cut for the 2010 series.

Strictly Come Dancing series 8 rehearsals start this week!

How time flies! The new series of Strictly Come Dancing is fast approaching and rehearsals are due to start this week.

We think we already know some stars that are heading for the Strictly 2010 line-up so let’s have a look at who they are:

Tina O’Brien – star of Coronation Street

Felicity Kendall – Actress famous for The Good Life

Gary and Danielle Lineker – Football legend, BBC Stalwart and his model wife

Gavin Henson – Welsh rugby player and Charlotte Church’s (ex) husband

Ann Widdecombe – Conservative MP

Patsy Kensit – Actress

Frank Bruno – Former Boxer

An interesting bunch so far but I’m still hoping for some big names this year and let’s hope that they don’t get knocked out in the first round – we miss you Martina!

New Strictly professional dancer Artem in visa row

New Strictly Come Dancing professional Artem Chigvintsev has had to fly back to America due to working too many hours under the rules of his working visa.

The BBC are hoping that Artem can return for the start of Strictly after he reapplies for a new visa but this is in doubt.

Russian born Artem was poached by the BBC from the West End’s Burn the Floor, which is currently starring Brian Fortuna and Ali Bastian.

A Strictly insider said: “It’s embarrassing for the BBC. They basically had to do this to stop Artem being deported.

Will Artem be back in time for the start of rehearsals or will a replacement have to stand in?

Claudia Winkleman to present Strictly Sunday results show with Tess

Breaking news; Claudia Winkleman will present the Sunday night results show with Tess Daly for series 10 of Strictly Come Dancing!

It has been reported that Bruce Forsyth is too tired to present the results show, which is filmed directly after the live show goes out on Saturday.

Last year Claudia stepped in for Brucie when he had the flu (as well as good old Ronnie Corbett) and BBC producers obviously liked what they saw.

An insider said: “Claudia is the perfect choice as she already has a history with Strictly.

“It will be all about girl power with Tess at the helm as well.”

Hmm girl power, it’s not the Spice Girls, get with it BBC!

Claudia will be great fot the Sunday night results show as she already has a great rapport with all the professionals and the judges and she’s a safe pair of hands.

Good on you Claudia!
