With the celebrities already revealed during the season finale of The Bachelor last night, Good Morning America has announced the pro-celeb pairings who will perform for the prized Dancing with the Stars glitterball trophy.

Early favourite to lift the glitterball trophy, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger is teamed with Derek Hough.  Derek has recently made the headlines in the UK for tending to an upset Cheryl Cole as she visited LA following her marriage break-up.  He has won the show once with Brooke Burke and narrowly missed out on a finals place last year with model Joanna Krupa.

Baywatch actress and model Pamela Anderson will be dancing with Dancing with the Stars new boy, Damian Whitewood.  Australian ballroom dancer Damian has been on Dancing with the Stars in Australia and most recently appeared in the stage spectacular Burn the Floor.

Sports presenter Erin Andrews is partnered with DWTS bad boy, Maksim Chmerkovskiy.  Maks has yet to lift the DWTS mirrorball but has come close on a couple of occasions with boxer Laila Ali and Spice Girl Mel B.

Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed actress Shannen Doherty is with Mark Ballas.  It will be Mark’s sixth season on the show and has already lifted the glitterball twice before – once with skater Kristi Yamaguchi and then with gymnast Shawn Johnson in season eight.

In his ninth season on the show, Tony Dovolani dances with reality TV star Kate Gosselin and Clean House presenter Niecy Nash gets Louis van Amstel.  Louis had a successful last season, reaching the final with Kelly Osbourne.

Evan Lysacek, who appears on the show fresh from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, is paired with Ana Trebunskaya.  This will be Ana’s fifth season on DWTS.  Last year, Ana’s partner was Ultimate fighter Chuck Liddell.

Strictly Come Dancing’s glittery American couterpart “premieres” on ABC on March 22nd.

It is usually broadcast on Watch (UKTV) and I have not missed a season yet; note my use of American terms.

The show is almost identicle to our UK version, but is recorded as live (not quite live then?) and it just generally a lot more showy!

Rumoured celebs are Pamela Anderson, US reality star Kate Gosselin, ex-Idol judge Paula Abdul, Olympic diving champ Greg Louganis, Kevin Federline and Olympic ice-skating champ Evan Lysacek .

The offical line-up will be announced on Monday 1st March so watch this space.

A live Sunday night results show may be on the cards for Strictly Come Dancing series 8!

Viewers complained last year about the “bumper-length” Saturday night show and claimed it was too long.

A BBC insider said: “We really want to take Strictly back to a Sunday night, but we would have to do it live and that takes more money, which is pretty tight at the moment.

Kelly Brook has fueled speculation that she is being lined up to become a judge on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing as a replacement for Alesha Dixon.

Kelly, 30, said: “I’d love to (be a judge). I love dancing and from a judging point of view, you have to approach it from the viewers’ point of view as well as a technical one.

“More often than not you have the ones that aren’t the best winning, because they put on such a performance and are charismatic. People underestimate that.”

She added: “That’s why I did Britain’s Got Talent and Dirty Dancing – because I recognise what it takes to be a performer and what it takes to to make something go from being a normal dance to something phenomenal.”

Alesha Dixon famously crashed and burned as judge last year and got a lot of flack for her juding style- will Kelly be any better?

Kelly Brook was in series 5 and danced with Brendan Cole but had to withdraw in week 8 becuase her father passed away.

Alesha Dixon’s absence from Strictly Come Dancing’s forthcoming Sport Relief special has sparked fresh speculation over her future as a judge.

Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli will be the only panellists to appear on screen when the one-off episode airs on March 19.

A show spokesperson explained Dixon’s absence by pointing out that the special was filmed during a London date of the Strictly Come Dancing tour, which the popstar was not involved in.

However, an insider told The Mirror that her non-appearance “could be a sign of things to come”.

Reports suggested yesterday that Dixon may not return for the eighth series in the autumn. She has yet to confirm her future involvement with the programme.

The singer replaced long-standing judge Arlene Phillips on the panel last year.

As we all try to come to terms with the end of another Strictly series (still can’t believe Chris won) I’ve set up a tv blog called TV all the time.

As I watch far too much television I’m sure I will have lots to talk about, especially with all the new reality shows coming up; Celebrity Big Brother, Dancing on Ice, So you think you can dance and Got to dance. And of course the new seasons of 24, Lost (final season!) and Doctor Who!

Craig Revel Horwood has claimed that the BBC “would be mad” to axe Strictly Come Dancing.

The show’s judge spoke out to dispel fears for the programme’s future following the negative press which surrounded the most recent series.

Strictly’s latest run sparked an ageism row after Arlene Phillips was axed from the panel and replaced by Alesha Dixon.

The programme also failed to match The X Factor in the Saturday night ratings battle, though it remained a strong performer for BBC One.

Speaking to Click Liverpool about the ballroom hit, Horwood insisted: “It’s absolutely coming back. It’s such a hugely popular show. With over 10 million viewers the BBC would be mad to cancel it. What would replace it?”

Revealing his desires for the next series, he added: “I would love to see Arlene back. I really missed her this series. It was great to have Darcey Bussell join us but I do wish Arlene could come back.”

Chris Hollins was voted the winner of Strictly Come Dancing earlier this month.

She might have been denied a place in last week’s final, but actress Ali Bastian was crowned Strictly Come Dancing’s Christmas champion in the programme’s festive television special on Christmas Day.

The Bill star even beat this year’s main competition winner, sports presenter Chris Hollins, as well as a host of other past contestants from the BBC1 dance contest.

Despite being a consistent high scorer in this year’s series, Ali and dance partner Brian Fortuna were knocked out of the competition in the semi-finals, leaving Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle and BBC sports presenter Chris to battle it out.

Chris eventually took home the title following a closely-fought contest last weekend.

However, Ali triumphed in the Christmas edition of the show, which also featured former Strictly contestants such as pop star Rachel Stevens, rugby legend Austin Healey and television presenter Gethin Jones.

Performing a Viennese waltz to The Eagles’ Please Come Home For Christmas with dancer partner Brian Fortuna, the pair scored a perfect 40 from the judges and won over the studio audience, who voted for their favourite to win.

Oh. My. God. Chris Hollins and Ola Jordan have been crowned Strictly Come Dancing 2009 Champions in an amazing final!

Chris looked shocked when Tess announced them as winners, and Ola burst into tears. They had scored marginally lower than fellow finalists Ricky and Natalie but came out on top with the all important public vote.

I am actually really really happy for Chris and especially Ola as she has worked really hard this series and been great to watch.

Chris really performed amazingly. First with a top notch Foxtrot, then a perfect scoring Charleston and they topped it off with a Dirty Dancing inspired showdance.

Runners up Ricky and Natalie put up a good fight with a tanalising Quickstep, a sexy cha cha and a “liftastic” showdance. I thought they might have edged it with the showdance but Chris and Ola proved to be just too popular.

Len said earlier in the show that Ricky might be beaten but he was the better dancer.. I’m sure that won’t be much comfort for him.

Did the right couple win? I think so yes.
